EXPIRED My Place, My Views – can you encourage your students to have their say about their local area?

South Hams and West Devon Councils are looking to engage local communities about planning in their local areas up to 2034. Planning is about meeting future needs so some of the most important voices are those of teenagers and young adults, however traditionally they are underrepresented. To try to improve this they have asked for your support to ask pupils to make a comment on a map of their area to tell them what they like about their favourite places, or places they would like to see change in the future such as new places to meet friends or play sport.

The survey and mapping exercise takes five minutes to complete and is most relevant to secondary school (15+) and sixth form students. This is relevant for classes focused on professional and life skills and also for the following subject areas: geography, religion and philosophy and computing. They would also love teaching staff to participate.

You can access the online survey at https://pshwd.commonplace.is/ which closes on October 17th.
