Tiny Travels offers children in Devon fully immersive sessions to promote an understanding of cultures around the world and in the UK through an anti-racist lens. We run sessions in nurseries, schools, libraries, playgroups, community events, and festivals.

During the sessions, children can explore crafts from different countries, smell different spices and teas from sensory pots, role-play with our custom-made food items, press musical buttons to hear different languages, and play with our vast collection of instruments from around the globe. We use age-appropriate diversity learning tools and cover all ages from pre-school to KS3. We often do full school bookings, staggering the conversation as we move through the year groups.

Our ethos is rooted in anti-racism and helping to combat white dominant, euro-centric narratives of how children learn about the world. Our sessions are spaces where differences are wholeheartedly celebrated and where we challenge racist stereotypes, help children learn to be safely in community with all people, open young minds, and broaden perspectives.

We understand that Devon can be a difficult place for ethnically diverse children to thrive due to systemic racism, and our aim is to help children across Devon learn about cultures to respect, appreciate, and know about the huge contributions of ethnically diverse people in shaping British society.

The Tiny Travels sessions are a powerful learning opportunity for promoting inclusivity, empathy, cultural understanding, and critical thinking. Through cultural education and anti-racism learning, we aim to help shape a future generation that appreciates, embraces, and celebrates diversity, who will grow up contributing a more equitable, safer, harmonious society.
