Bookstart pre-schooler packs for north and mid Devon settings
We are collecting orders for BookTrust Pre-schooler packs for those children in targeted settings in North and Mid Devon, so please look out for the email in the next week. The closing date for orders is: Friday 19th September 2025.

Early years employment reference template
This form will help early years providers give references for current and former employees. It includes questions about the person’s role, safeguarding history, and suitability to work with children which is now a requirement within the new Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework Sept 2025.
The new inspection framework – Ofsted briefing sessions
The new inspection framework is set to be implemented in November 2025 following a comprehensive consultation process. Early years and childcare providers in Devon can attend a briefing session in November to ensure they are well-prepared for the upcoming changes.
How to complete the autumn headcount task – training session
Have you recently taken over responsibility for using the Provider Portal or need a refresher? The Early Years Funding Team will be running virtual training sessions on how to complete your autumn headcount task. Dates are 19 Sept 11am – 12pm and 24 Sept 6.30pm – 7.30pm.
Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF) to continue
The government has announced that over £600 million has been confirmed for the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme for the next three financial years. This is great news for children and families in Devon!
Out of school setting safeguarding ‘call for evidence’ – we need your help!
All providers are invited to take part in the ‘out-of-school settings safeguarding call for evidence’ – this is your opportunity to share your experiences, insights, and ideas on how safeguarding can be strengthen across these vital spaces. Submit your views by 21st September 2025.
