Devon’s Local Nature Recovery Strategy

The LNRS will set out priorities for nature and is a statutory requirement, defined in Sections 104 to 106 of the Environment Act 2021. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) have published regulations and guidance documents for all Responsible Authorities.

This is in conjunction with Supporting Authorities and all other interested stakeholders, especially landowners and managers. Supporting Authorities include all Devon Local Authorities (East Devon District, Teignbridge, South Hams, West Devon, Torridge, North Devon, Exeter City, Mid Devon, Torbay Council and Plymouth City Council), Dartmoor National Park, Exmoor National Park and Natural England.

We need the Strategy to be both inclusive and impactful, so everyone in Devon must be on board and engaged. Together we can reverse the decline in biodiversity, increase our resilience, and create an environment whereby both people and nature thrive.

The LNRS is being developed by DCC, supporting authorities and other stakeholders under the umbrella of the Devon LNP to ensure a collaborative approach. You can find out more about the LNRS on the Devon LNP website. Or email Sarah Jennings for more information.
