The Devon Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) gives an overview of Devon’s wildlife and sets out priorities and actions to help nature recover. It’s a tool to help us all do our bit to create a wildlife-rich Devon, today and for generations to come.

The LNRS is a statutory requirement, defined in Sections 104 to 106 of the Environment Act 2021. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) have published regulations and guidance documents for all Responsible Authorities, for Devon the Responsible Authority is Devon Count Council (DCC). DCC developed the Devon LNRS in collaboration with Supporting Authorities, the Devon Local Nature Partnership, and all other interested stakeholders, especially landowners and managers. Supporting Authorities include all Devon Local Authorities (East Devon District, Teignbridge, South Hams, West Devon, Torridge, North Devon, Exeter City, Mid Devon, Torbay Council and Plymouth City Council), Dartmoor National Park, Exmoor National Park and Natural England.

We have designed the Strategy as a website with the aim to be both inclusive and impactful, so everyone in Devon will be engaged and onboard. Together we can reverse the decline in biodiversity, increase our resilience, and create an environment whereby both people and nature thrive.
