The contract extension will commence on 01/04/2021, for the period of 3 Months.

The plans to devolve were disrupted and paused in 2020 while colleagues responded to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. The decision to extend has been taken provide market stability and continuity of service delivery as we continue the negotiations to devolve these commissioning arrangements.
There is currently a lot of pressure upon homelessness services, in part due to the impact of Covid-19 and national measures to ensure the homeless population remains safe, but Devon also has high levels of homelessness and rough sleepers nationally, particularly in Exeter and North Devon The option of ceasing our contribution, or devolving it without proper measures and agreements in place is likely to put homeless people at greater risk.
