Summary of Matter or Issue Requiring Decision:

Decision to extend the contract for the operation of the Authority’s waste transfer facility in Exeter (CP1078-14 ) to the organisation in section 2 for a period between 1st September 2020 to 28th February 2021.

Decision Taken:

To extend the contract in section 1 above to the below organisation:
Viridor Waste Management Limited
Peninsula House, Rydon Lane, Exeter, EX2 7HR

Summary of Reason(s) for Decision Taken:

The Contract referred to in section 1 above expires on 31st August 2020. DCC started the procurement process to identify a successor service provider. The tendering period for the successor contract was scheduled to end on 24th April 2020 with an award by mid-July 2020.

However, due to the current situation caused by the spread of COVID-19, it has become necessary to extend the tendering exercise until normality is resumed . Viridor have agreed to enter into a further period of extension until 28.02.2021 to facilitate this.

This decision is supported by the Government’s Procurement Policy Note 01/20: Responding to COVID-19
