NJC Pay Claim 2026/27

The Trade Unions recently submitted its claim for local government services (‘Green Book’) employees for 2026/27 to the LGA.

Headline one-year claim:

  • £3,000 or 10% increase (whichever is more) across all NJC pay points
  • Minimum of £15 an hour for the NJC pay spine
  • Two-hour reduction in working week
  • Additional day annual leave
  • Ability for school support staff to take a day of paid leave during term time
  • Abolition of Level 1 Teaching Assistant role with Level 1 role holders moved to Level 2

If a multi-year settlement is proposed, the unions would seek the following three-year agreement:

  • Year 1: £3,000 or 10% (whichever is more) on all spinal column points, and £15 minimum hourly rate
  • Year 2: increase of RPI + 3%
  • Year 3: increase of RPI + 2%
