Schools and academies Model Staff Leave and Absence Policy

The Staff Leave and Absence policy for Schools and Academies has been updated in line with the changes made to the Devon County Council Corporate Compassionate Leave Policy (inc. Parental Bereavement Leave), and the Corporate Emergency Time Off for Dependents Policy.

Following feedback from Managers and Trade Unions, and having undertaken benchmarking with other local authorities, it was agreed to increase paid Compassionate Leave entitlement up to 10 working days (pro rata), which includes the statutory entitlement to Parental Bereavement Leave, and to increase Emergency Time Off for Dependents from unpaid leave to up to 5 days paid leave, in a 12 month rolling period.
