Autism and Girls
The Communication and Interaction Team (C&I) are delivering a workshop designed for school staff to develop their knowledge of and skills in supporting girls with autism, both pre- and post- diagnosis.
Audience: SENCos, INCOs, teachers with specific responsibility. All key stages.
This is a half day workshop and will cover the following topics:
- Why has there traditionally been such a pronounced (1:4) gender difference in diagnosis rates?
- Key areas of difference in relation to girls with autism
- Pre-diagnosis indicators
- Key strategies in relation to both universal and targeted approaches
- Working with parents
- Useful resources and links
The workshop is interactive and focussed on positive outcomes for pupils. A key outcome will be for delegates to develop a ‘provision checklist’, which can be applied to their setting in practical terms.
The course also offers the opportunity for professional networking and sharing of good practise.
