Developing vocabulary – 24 Nov 2022 

• This module focuses on the sound-meaning approach for vocabulary teaching, including how to plan direct vocabulary teaching using the STAR approach.The three vocabulary tiers and appropriate teaching strategies for each will be discussed as well as how to set up targeted vocabulary groups for learners needing more intensive support.

Narrative skills – 28 Feb 2022

• Delegates will learn about the development and role of narrative within language as a whole, and its importance in supporting CYP’s understanding of themselves and others.
• We will look at different types of narrative and consider ways to assess the oral narrative skills of children and young people.

Supporting the transition of pupils with SLCN into reception – 16 May or 13 June 2023
