Apprenticeship update March 2023

Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools: Apprenticeship opportunities for your workforce

  • Looking to support your staff to develop both professionally and personally?
  • Want to invest in your staff but don’t have the budget to do so?
  • Do you have a staff shortage or high turnover in certain job roles and want to help retain staff?

If you said yes to any of the questions above, an apprenticeship could be the answer!

Apprenticeships are a great way to support recruitment and retention, create a more diverse and inclusive workforce and upskill existing staff. Community and Voluntary Controlled schools contribute to Devon County Council’s apprenticeship levy, this means that your school can access these funds to pay for apprenticeship training costs (please note, the levy does not cover salary costs). If you are looking to fill a vacancy or have a member of staff that would like to take the next step in their career, you can utilise the apprenticeship levy to do this.
