Supporting the transition of pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) into the reception classroom

Fully funded training for Devon schools:
Transition from preschool into the reception class can be an exciting time for children. However, those with speech, language and communication difficulties may find this time more challenging and will benefit from enhanced universal support to enable a successful transition.
This briefing will provide primary school SENDCOs and reception class teachers with a range of strategies to support children with identified SLCN, as well as those whose needs may not yet have been formally identified.

Training objectives:

  • to develop understanding of how SLCN can present in the reception classroom
  • to know a range of strategies that support understanding, talk and interaction within the reception classroom.
