Raising the Attainment of Bilingual Learners Conference
Tuesday 18 May 2021 | Virtually Hosted | 09:30 – 12:30
EAL learners will need significant and intensive catch-up support to close an attainment gap that has been intensified by the national Covid-19 lockdown. They may have had a limited or lack of exposure to a broad range of English language, including the academic language needed to be successful across the curriculum.
When teaching pupils with English as an additional language, building vocabulary is key to progressing their level of English in all skills. Our keynote speaker, Dr Victoria Murphy, will talk about the importance of addressing the EAL Word Gap.
Training Objectives;
- Hear from expert keynote speaker Dr Victoria Murphy, Chair of National Subject Association for EAL
- Be inspired and go back to your setting with new ideas
- Understand a whole school approach towards EAL education
