FREE emergency response training for schools and early years settings
Headteachers, school leaders and leaders of early years settings are invited to attend a free Emergency Preparedness Workshop designed to strengthen emergency planning, response and safeguarding arrangements. Developed in response to the Section 175 Safeguarding Audit and the introduction of Martyn’s Law, this training is being delivered through a partnership between the DfE regional CONTEST co-ordinator, NaCTSO and the Devon Education Services Safeguarding Team.
The workshop will provide practical guidance on recognising and responding to developing threats, developing effective emergency response plans, and testing procedures through realistic scenario-based exercises. It takes place on Thursday 14 January 2027 at Westpoint, Exeter, with morning and afternoon sessions available. Places are limited to one representative per setting and demand is expected to be high. This is a one-off training opportunity, with no further sessions currently planned.
