EXPIRED Devon term dates consultation – 2026/27 and 2027/28

Local authorities have a duty to determine the school term dates for community and voluntary controlled schools, and for consistency, recommend these dates for adoption by governors of foundation, foundation trust, voluntary aided, academies and free schools.

The school year in Devon is split into three terms – autumn, spring, and summer. We’ve attempted to keep each term length as equal as possible whilst attaching the school holidays to immovable dates such as Christmas, Easter and exam periods. All schools are invited to nominate five days when they will close for staff training and for two additional occasional school holidays.

Term dates are set after consultation with all Devon schools and representatives from union associations to establish 197 school days (including five staff training days and two occasional days). Devon’s calendar is created through consultation with neighbouring authorities to ensure consistency across the South West (where possible).

Please find the proposed term dates for 2026/27 and 2027/28. Devon County Council is now consulting with its schools, representatives from union associations and its neighbouring authorities. If you have any comments regarding the attached dates please respond by Friday 14th February 2025.

"Weeks run from Monday to Sunday. Please note that weeks without communications to schools are ignored and the links will go to the last week where a communication was made in this category."
