Odils Employment Outreach Programme

Starting in April, South Hams and West Devon DC are contracting with ODILS to deliver FREE employment and careers support around Plymouth, South Hams and West Devon for speakers of other languages. Sarah Quayle and her team from ODILS will travel to 4 hubs located in Tavistock, Totnes, Ivybridge and Okehampton, providing 1 full day of employment support in each hub every month.

ODILS will also provide online ESOL for speakers of other languages in remote areas who cannot access English classes easily. These online classes will have a specific employment focus to help people find work. Before classes start, Sarah will arrange with you an English assessment so that she can plan lessons to meet your needs. She can travel to you for the assessment.

Help you complete application forms
Help you write a covering letter
Attend job fairs with you
Explain about references and cultural employment norms in UK.
Act as a reference for you if required
Interview preparation
Conduct mock interviews
Help you think about what employment they want to do and how to get there.
Carry out a skills assessment
Signpost to local services – Such as: Princes Trust, Skills Launchpad, OnCourseSW, Plymouth Hope and START and Devon and Cornwall Refugee Support Council.
Advice about English available in the local area and at Odils
Refer you to English and vocational skills courses
Advice and referral to local volunteering opportunities
Give information and advice about training and qualifications.
Take you to meet employers.
Take you to Refugee Rocks our climbing club.
