ACD has been established to strengthen contact with friends and family members both locally and around the UK, in order to establish a sense of stability and belonging. One of our aims is to exchange ideas and experience, to further enhance the lives of Afghan people and the wider community.
The charitable company’s activities will provide benefit to the local Afghan community by helping to maintain a sense of original, cultural identity. The wider community will benefit from a greater cultural understanding and acceptance of their Afghan neighbours.
By establishing an Afghan community hub, it is hoped this will promote a sense of home and security in Devon for people who have only known their country in conflict and their lives in upheaval.
The current political situation in Afghanistan is a major factor affecting the mental health of individuals, and by bringing local Afghan people together and re-establishing a sense of community, we will help to strengthen them.
