Devon’s SEND Local Offer

The final EHC plan

If you suggest changes to the draft EHC plan and these are agreed by us, the draft plan should be amended and issued as the final EHC plan as quickly as possible.

The final EHC plan can differ from the draft EHC plan only as a result of any feedback made by you (including a request for a personal budget) and decisions made about the school or other institution (or type of school or other institution) to be named in the EHC plan.

When we issue the final EHC plan you will be provided with details regarding the next steps.

If you disagree with any part of the final EHC plan you should talk to your caseworker at the SEND Statutory Team to find out more about why certain decisions were made and to see if any disagreements can be resolved.

You can find more information and advice from DiAS about what to do when you get a final plan.

The plan will remain in place until your child leaves formal education or we agree that it is no longer needed because they have made good progress.

We will review the plan every year, or more often if necessary.

What the school or college should do now

We will have told the setting that your child has an EHC plan and they would be expected to review it thoroughly so that they fully understand your child’s needs and the specific support required.

The setting will make sure that the staff members that teach your child know about their special educational needs. More information about what should happen once the plan is implemented.

The setting is responsible for arranging and managing the annual review.
