Ceremonies at Okehampton Town Hall – statutory ceremonies in the Registrar's Office

When should we arrive?

You should arrive around 15 minutes before the ceremony. If you are arriving separately that is fine, just stagger your arrivals.

The registrars will need to speak to you privately to check the details to be entered in the register. You will also be asked to give your mother and father’s full name and occupation.

Where can guests park?

Parking is available behind the registration office off Market Street (pay and display).

Where are the toilets?

Toilets are available but are not suitable for wheelchair users. Please ask the registrar to show you where they are.

How many guests can we have?

The ceremony you have booked is a statutory ceremony, this is very simply the couple and two witnesses only, no one else will be allowed in the room and that includes children, babies or photographers. Witnesses must be over the age of 16. Please do not attend with extra guests.

Can we decorate the space?

As we do multiple ceremonies each day, we do not allow the decoration of the ceremony space.

Is there an aisle?

There is no aisle in the room.

Can we have music ?

We do not offer personalisation with our statutory ceremonies.

Can we have confetti?

Confetti can only be thrown outside and must be biodegradable.

Can we have drone photography?

Drone photography is not permitted.

Can we write our own script?

All our registrars write their own ceremony scripts so they are all different and cannot be adapted.

How long do we have the space for?

Ceremonies take between 15 and 25 minutes.

Do we need an order of service?
