Overnight maintenance work will be carried out on the A361 North Devon Link Road between Junction 27 and Bolham roundabout, starting next week.
Essential maintenance work has been scheduled to be carried out overnight from the evening of Sunday 19 June until Tuesday 28 June.
This includes safety barrier maintenance, cat-eye replacement, line re-painting, bridge inspections and grass cutting, which have been programmed to be undertaken at the same time to minimise disruption.
Work will be carried out each night from 8pm-6am, using a combination of road closures and lane closures.
However, no work will be undertaken on the evenings of Friday 24 June, Saturday 25 June or Sunday 26 June, when the road will be fully open.
Overnight on Sunday 19 June the road will be completely closed from 8pm to 6am on the west and eastbound carriageways between Bolham roundabout and Gornhay. The diversion will be as follows:
Eastbound – head South on Bolham Road/A3126, at the roundabout take the first exit onto Lea Road, at the next roundabout take the first exit onto Heathcoat Way/A396, go through one roundabout and a slight left/A361 on to the slip road to M5/Taunton/Exeter/Honiton.
Westbound – exit A361 on the slip road and at the roundabout take the first exit onto Heathcoat Way/A396, at the roundabout take the third exit onto Lea Road, at the roundabout take the second exit onto Bolham Road/A3126.
On the evenings of Monday 20 June and Tuesday 21 June, the eastbound carriageway will be closed from Gornhay to Sampford Peverell from 8pm to 6am. Only one lane will be closed westbound on these two nights over a shorter section where work is being carried out on safety barriers in the central reservation.
The eastbound diversion will be: Exit A361 slip road and head south east towards Little Gornhay Lane, turn right towards Heathcoat Way/A396, at the roundabout continue straight on Heathcoat Way, A396, go through one roundabout, at the roundabout take the first exit onto Blundell’s Road, continue onto Post Hill, continue onto High Street, continue onto Turnpike, continue onto Lower Town, go through one roundabout, at the roundabout take the first exit onto the A361 slip road to Taunton/Exeter/M5/Cullompton/Tiverton/Barnstaple/Wellington/A38.
Overnight on Wednesday 22 June and Thursday 23 June, the westbound carriageway will be closed from Gornhay to Sampford Peverell between 8pm and 6am. Only one lane will be closed eastbound which will again be for work on the safety barriers in the central reservation.
The westbound diversion westbound will be: Exit the A361 slip road, at the roundabout take the first exit, continue onto Lower Town, then onto Turnpike, continue onto High Street, and then Post Hill, continue onto Blundell’s Road, at the roundabout take the third exit onto Heathcoat Way/A396, go through one roundabout, at the roundabout take the first exit onto the A361 slip road to Bampton/Barnstaple/A396.
On the evening of Monday 27 June, one lane will be closed in each direction between Junction 27 M5 and Sampford Peverell. The lane closure will alternate between lane one and two on both the east and westbound carriageways throughout the night from 8pm to 6am.
