***UPDATE*** 9.30am, Thursday 18 June: The vehicle has been recovered safely with no impact to the environment.
We are aware of an issue affecting a temporary road constructed as part of the Baulk Bridge replacement scheme on the B3181 near Cullompton.
The project involves replacing the existing bridge over the River Culm, which is in poor condition, with a new structure designed to provide a more resilient and longer-term solution for this key route between Cullompton and Exeter.
Initial assessments indicate that a vehicle became bogged down in a temporary road surface. Immediate measures were taken to ensure that the nearby River Culm was not affected by the incident.
The safety of the public and the environment is our top priority. The site is being monitored and managed, and steps are being taken to minimise any disruption to road users while the situation is addressed.
