We are taking ownership of the Skypark Development Partnership LLP (Limited Liability Partnership) to continue development of the site, supporting growth and creating jobs.
It follows the decision by developer Brighton STM to leave the Joint Venture, with Devon purchasing its 50% share.
More than 1,070 people currently work at the 90-acre Skypark, which is in the Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone and has undergone significant development in the past couple of years. Developments include Stovax & Gazco’s 205,000 sq ft purpose built manufacturing facility and Onyx Business Parks’ newly constructed flexible, high quality industrial units to support growing businesses, some of which are due to be occupied this month.
Councillor Simon Clist, Cabinet Member for Assets and Resources, said:
“Skypark is playing a crucial role in Devon’s sustainable economic recovery, having already generated over 1,000 jobs. There is immense potential for an additional 2,300 jobs to be created on the remaining land. While we are saddened by Brighton STM’s departure, purchasing their share allows us to continue developing Skypark, which is vital for local employment and our economy.”
We’re continuing to work closely with East Devon District Council to seek a Local Development Order (LDO) for the site to refresh the current outline planning permission and to attract new investment through a quicker and simplified planning process for developers. East Devon District Council’s planning committee is expected to discuss the LDO this summer.
Skypark also contributes to Devon’s climate emergency response, featuring high quality buildings which are energy efficient and use the latest modern construction methods. The site also benefits from district heating system infrastructure that connects to the E.on Energy Centre for Skypark and Cranbrook which is located on site.
All buildings on Skypark have been developed to BREEAM Excellent standards with strong environmental and sustainability credentials. The business park is well-served with active travel links and public transport options, reducing the environmental impact of commuting.
