On the 31st January 2019 the NDLR planning application was reviewed at planning committee, where it was conditionally granted after receiving unanimous approval. The application covered the ‘Main Works’ portion of the scheme: road widening and the introduction of WS2+1 carriageway on 3 sections between South Molton and Barnstaple, and upgrades to the Landkey & West Buckland Junctions.
The granting of planning permission is a milestone achievement for the scheme which has been achieved nearly 2 months ahead of programme. It is the result of extensive consultation with statutory bodies including Natural England, Historic England and the Environment Agency, which lead to no statutory objections being raised.
