Legal Support Grant

Charities that provide free legal advice can apply for a grant from the new Legal Support Grant to participate in a research programme to identify what works well in delivering social welfare and legal advice to individuals and families.

In order to be eligible, your organisation needs to be:

  • registered with the Charity Commission
  • willing and able to participate in research, data collection, and evaluation activity as part of this programme
  • experienced in delivering social welfare and family legal advice/ support

There are two types of grants:

1. Funding to support organisations that provide free legal support (max. £375,000)

2. Funding to support the development of a Central National Online Support Offer (max. £875,000)

This is restricted funding to support participation in research and the organisational infrastructure required to deliver free legal support.

The Legal Support Grant is a two‑and‑a‑half‑year programme funded by the Ministry of Justice and delivered by The Access to Justice Foundation.

Funding for organisations that provide free legal support to take part in an independent research and evaluation project.
