Heritage Skills for Christian Buildings

Grants are available from Benefact Trust to support the costs of providing accredited training in heritage skills that are relevant to the preservation of Christian buildings.

Through the Heritage Skills for Christian Buildings grants programme, charities can train individuals who are pursuing a career in the heritage sector through apprenticeships, scholarships, and training courses in skills that are relevant to the maintenance and preservation of Christian buildings. This includes:

  • stonemasonry
  • carpentry/joinery
  • heritage plumbing
  • heritage electricians
  • heritage bricklaying
  • lime plastering
  • thatching
  • lead work and glazing

Funding can be used for both capital and revenue costs, including tools, employment costs and college fees.

The grants programme is open for applications from any registered Christian charity offering training in heritage skills, providing they can demonstrate that funding will support skills relevant to the preservation of Christian buildings.

Grants are for the training of specific individuals rather than general support across a group of students. The funding can be used to support individuals for the duration of their training up to a maximum period of three years.
