Army Benevolent Fund

The Army Benevolent Fund provides grants to charitable organisations that provide services and support to the army family:  serving soldiers, former soldiers, and their immediate families (including the bereaved).

Registered charitable organisations and Community Interest Companies can apply for grants. If you are a new applicant to the Army Benevolent Fund, any grant will generally be for less than £20,000 and you are advised to make contact by email before submitting an application to explain:

  • why the project or service is needed
  • the expected number of Army family beneficiaries
  • the impact the project or service is having and/or expected to have
  • how the project or service will be sustained going forward

The Army Benevolent Fund can also provide means-tested assistance for individuals who are serving or former members of the army and their dependants.

Grants for charitable organisations that support serving or former soldiers and their families.

Application deadline:

Apply between 16 December and 20 January 2026 for consideration at the next committee meeting
