Recruiting the right people with the right skills and experience, at the right time, is essential for your business. We support you in doing this by promoting your vacancies, for a small charge of £25 per advert (including VAT***), in a number of ways:
- Online at Devon jobs
You can submit your vacancies to us online, by following the guidance given below. Once submitted to us, the vacancies are advertised on the Devon jobs website. This website attracts thousands of jobseekers each month and is a great place to make sure your vacancy is seen by the right people. Jobseekers are also able to register to receive email job alerts as soon as a vacancy is advertised which matches their search criteria.
- Social media: we can advertise your vacancies through our Facebook page, our Twitter page and also via Linked In.
- We will also promote your advert via our weekly Digest newsletter
***Please note if you are registered as being exempt from VAT for charitable purposes the fee required is £20. Please contact us if you are exempt from VAT and wish to pay the reduced amount. For further information please visit the HM Revenue and Customs website.
What sort of jobs can be advertised?
We recognise that it can be difficult to find the right level of skills, experience and qualification to fill a particular post; this is why we offer an advertising service for your early years and childcare job vacancies. As such, we only handle job vacancies which involve direct contact with children, and not the kinds of generic roles which might be easier to fill – that means we will handle your vacancy for a pre-school leader or playworker but not for a cleaner or cook. If you are not sure if your vacancy is suitable contact us for advice.
If you are a Torbay or Plymouth setting we will be unable to place your vacancies as these are separate local authorities and do not fall under the remit of Devon County Council’s support and funding arrangements. Please contact your local Family Information Service for information.
Please note this service is for private, voluntary and independent early years and childcare settings. This does not include schools (maintained, private or independent). Schools should contact the Devon Jobs Team for advice on advertising.
How do I submit a vacancy?
Please ensure that you download and save the document to your device before completing it.
You will then need to visit the DEL training website to make your payment online (once you have logged into your DEL account type ‘job adverts’ into the ‘search course’ box and add the ‘course’ to the basket and follow the on-screen payment instructions (the cost is £25 per advert). If you are having trouble logging into DEL please contact us.
Please let us know when you have made your payment so that we can make your advert live. To ensure the process is not delayed we request that you make the payment promptly.
What should I include in the advert?
The vacancy form for providers will tell you what you need to include. We also encourage you to attach the relevant job descriptions and person specifications when you submit the vacancy form by email, as we can uploaded them to the childcare jobs website for jobseekers to get a more detailed understanding of what you are looking for. This can save you valuable time and energy in the long run, as it may improve the quality of applications for the role. For help with what to include in a job description and person specification, or more information on how to manage a safer recruitment process, read the Staffing Matters document.
Please remember, we are unable to advertise your position until we have received your £25 payment.
Promoting your vacancy
You can also advertise a job for free using the ‘Advertise a Job’ service on the Direct Gov website.
You could also contact local children’s centres near you as they often have information for jobseekers. You could ask if it would be possible to pin your job advert up on their noticeboard.
If you are an employer looking to create job placements for young people, check if you can apply for funding as part of the Kickstart Scheme.
