There are several locally based charities and organisations who can support children and young people’s wellbeing, including those with sensory impairments.
Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD)
CHFD have lots of advice and resources to support mental health on their website. Anyone under the age of 18 who lives in Devon can also request help from them.
Deaf CAMHS
National Deaf CAMHS is a specialist mental health team for deaf children, young people and their families and carers.
The Southwest regional team covers Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, Swindon, Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall.
Every Mind Matters
The Every Mind Matters website provides information and advice from the NHS, to help you take care of your mental wellbeing.
Kooth
Kooth is an online forum that young people can join to get advice support.
Young Devon
Young Devon is a young people’s charity whose mission is to make Devon a better place for all young people. They work with over 2,000 young people (aged 11+) every year, building quality relationships to help them thrive.
They provided a Wellbeing service which has been running for over 20 years. Experienced staff will listen, help, never judge and will give straightforward support for problems that young people might be facing.
Young Minds
Young Minds is a national charity that help young people to understand their feelings and find ways to feel better. They can also help families, carers, or professionals working with young people to support someone who’s struggling.
The Youth Intervention Centre
The Youth Intervention Centre is a private counselling and therapy service, supporting people through mental health and emotional difficulties they may be facing.
They are based in Ivybridge, and specialise in working with young people between the ages of 5 and 25.
