Children’s social care

Children’s homes

Devon County Council currently has eight children’s homes across Devon. Our homes can provide short breaks, including day care and overnight stays, as well as full-time residential homes for children and young people with complex healthcare needs.

All our homes are registered with Ofsted, and are for children and young people up to the age of 18.

How we can help

Our homes can provide the following service:

  • full time residential homes
  • short breaks – day care and overnight stays

Our aim is to provide a happy, safe and caring home for all children and young people who access our service. All children are supported in a loving encouraging and respectful way and have their views, wishes and feelings heard and responded to.

All children and young people who access our service have a tailored support which takes into account their own strengths and challenges. For example, we use a range of communication methods to suit your child individual needs and ability. Children’s needs are at the centre of our practise and we listen and respond to the children’s voice when planning their care

How to access our service

We receive referrals on your behalf from your child’s social worker. We will then make contact with you to discuss your child’s needs and we will undertake a ‘is this the right home’ and admissions process to ensure we have a full understanding of the child’s needs, and if we are able to provide support for your child.
