Make Your Mark

This November, 11-18 year olds (including those up to 25 if they have a protected characteristic) will vote for what they believe is the top issue for young people in Devon.

As the Devon Youth Council, we’ll then set the final result as our primary campaign for the next two years, where we will: research why it was chosen, present our findings, and co-produce real change with key decision makers, making sure to represent your views along the way.

The ballot will officially be open throughout the whole month of November. It will be held on both paper ballots in your schools, colleges or youth groups – as well as fully online! If you don’t think your school has signed up to participate, you can ask them to email us at participation@devon.gov.uk for any information or resources they need – or you can take part on your own using the online link that will be available here when the vote begins.

The final results will be announced in our following Youth Council meeting on 12 December.

These results will be shared with the schools and youth groups involved directly, but if you took part in the vote independently, or want to know before everyone else does, you’ll be able to find all the details on our Instagram, Facebook, and on this webpage.

Why vote?

Make Your Mark is one of the best performing regional youth votes in the UK. The more young people who take part, the more influential the result will be – not only in Devon, but on a national level too.

With the age to vote in national elections lowering to 16 next year, Make Your Mark is also an opportunity to get a head start and experience the voting process, without any of the stress or pressure that can potentially come from political decisions.

You can find the results from the previous votes by clicking the button below. Here you can also read about what we achieved as part of the Make Your Mark result from 2025 – Places to Go, Things to Do.
