Social groups and clubs


Devon is such a big county, it’s difficult for us to list all local groups and clubs, but here are some suggestions that may be of interest.

AIMS

Dawlish

AIMS supports families who have children with different needs. The group meets every Saturday for fun activities and occasional outings.

Army cadets

Various detachments throughout Devon. Find a detachment.

The Army Cadets can offer a lot of exciting opportunities to young people from 12 and 17 years old. Take part in exciting and challenging activities.

Aspies walking group (18+)

Sidmouth

Walking group in Sidmouth for people with Asperger’s or autism. Meet once per month. Walking from The Triangle Bus Terminus, EX10 8PE, starting at 11 am. The walk is for approximately two hours.

Broadclyst Youth Club

Every Thursday, YMCA Exeter head to Broadclyst Youth Club to lead sessions for up to 15 young people.

CEDA

Exeter

CEDA’s Youth Services are Ofsted registered and provide fun, learning and social opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged children and young people aged 5 – 21. With a choice of clubs, a social group for over 14s and a Youth Music project there’s lots on offer.

Coderdojo Club

Exmouth Library

The Coderdojo Club is a supportive and collaborative environment, helping children aged 7-17 to build confidence in programming and exciting them about the possibilities of coding and digital design.

Co Create (18+)

Exeter

Co Create Exeter provides opportunities for people to create exciting projects and be part of shared endeavours.

Devon Friendship Group (online)

The Friendship Group is run by Devon People First. Meetings are every Wednesday afternoon and every other Monday afternoon between 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm.

Esteem Team

Esteem Team are a community interest company that work with children and young people who have additional needs and/or struggle with their mental health. Take a look at the activities they have available.

Exeter Raspberry Pi jam

Exeter Raspberry Jam is a monthly meeting on the first Saturday of the month 10-12 at the Rougemount Hotel on the first floor.

It is for everyone interested in Raspberry Pi and all things Micro Computers, Micro Controllers and Robotics. All ages welcome (but minors under 16 must be accompanied please).

Get Changed Theatre Company (18+)

Okehampton

Based in Okehampton in Devon, Get Changed Theatre Company is a vibrant organisation for adults with learning disabilities in West Devon and Mid Devon.

Holsworthy Youth Club

Holsworthy Youth Club is an inclusive, volunteer led youth club for the young people of Holsworthy and the surrounding villages, operating from Holsworthy Youth Centre.

Kingsteignton Youth Club

Two youth club sessions are held every week during term-time for young people.

Lego Club

Exmouth Library

Lego Club takes place every Saturday at Exmouth Library. Take part in one of our challenges or get creative with those bricks! It’s completely free with no need to book and all ages are welcome.

Orchard Saturday Club

Teignbridge

Orchard Saturday Club is a small respite charity. They run two alternate small group sessions fortnightly, one for youngsters between 8 and 14 years of age and the other for those between 14 and 19.

Phoenix Youth Group

Torbay and south Devon

The Phoenix group is for young people living with learning disabilities, physical disabilities or who are socially isolated. The group offers a safe place to get together and socialise.

Sea cadets

There are 400 Sea Cadet units nationwide offering training to young people between the ages of 10-18, enabling personal development and valuable life skills.

Sidmouth Youth Club

Run by Young Devon, Sidmouth Youth Club is a safe space where young people can learn, and develop healthier, happier lives; Sidmouth Youth Centre runs youth club evenings, skills nights, and awesome activities in school holidays. 

Significant Seams

Crediton

Significant Seams runs creative workshops, makes artwork with communities, learns about communities through creative research and evaluation, and provides sewing supplies for social good.

SOCOPS

Exeter

SOCOPS club provides a safe and inclusive social space for children aged 7-15 with autistic spectrum conditions. Siblings and families are welcome to join in the weekly sessions too.

SOCOPS Plus is a social group for young people aged 16-23 with autistic spectrum conditions. Sessions are held fortnightly at various locations across Exeter.

Sound Communities helps young people to lead digital production opportunities together, to improve their wellbeing and facilitate expression, creativity and agency.

Space youth groups

County-wide

Space run a range of youth services in Devon, which includes a number of in-person youth clubs (and an online one).

They also run some groups specifically for young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Weekly SEND sessions are available in Exmouth (13+), Newton Abbot (11-19) and Tiverton (11-19).

The Cwtch Hub is a not-for-profit community interest company – it is a creative, welcoming space where everyone belongs.

The Hollow Lane Club

Exeter and Dartington

The Hollow Lane Club supports children and young people with complex disabilities through a year round programme of clubs and activities.

The Yard Youth Club

Turning Heads film school (18+)

Torbay area

Film workshops take place every Friday from 9 am until 12 pm. The sessions are open to anyone and are structured around a 6 to 8-week timeframe and the end of this period a short film is produced and released onto social media or screened locally.
