Highways permit scheme consultation

Devon County Council are moving forward with a permit scheme for carrying out work activity on the highway. Here you will find information about the this process.

  • All informal consultation roadshows have now been held. The purpose of these sessions was to raise awareness of the scheme and obtain feedback to help mould the scheme criteria. A good and varied attendance from many different stakeholders was received – thank you. For all those who were unable to attend, please see the presentation attached on the below link.

  • A formal consultation on the proposed Legal Order to operate a Permit for Works Scheme operated for 7 weeks from the 21st October 2019. Thank you to all that have contributed. All feedback will be fully considered and full responses will be formally issued publicly within the next few weeks.

  • Following the Legal Order consultation, the scheme is planned to go live in March 2020.

  • Approval was given to introduce a Permit for Works Scheme on 9th October by Devon County Council’s Cabinet Committee.
