It’s GCSE results day and Learn Devon’s adult learners have been among those celebrating their achievements.
Learn Devon, Devon County Council’s adult education service, welcomed and congratulated learners collecting their results from its centres throughout today.
Learn Devon offers free GCSE English and Maths qualifications, with courses starting in September and in January.
Exmouth
Emily Poslett passed her English with a grade six. She said: “I’m relieved and surprised. I didn’t feel that my exam went well as I had a lot going on at the time, but the result was amazing.”
Roseanna McElligott gained a grade seven in English. She said: “I’m feeling really happy. Glad it’s over but the course was great. I’m doing an Access Course right now and I’m hoping to go to uni next year to study Nursing.”
Finlay Beale achieved a five in English and a four in Maths. He said: “Very good result. A bit of studying and I got lots of help from my tutor.”
Newton Abbot
Maria Kleckowski-Tanner got a five in Maths. She said: “I became obsessed with Maths and wished now that I had done the higher-level paper. Cheryl was a lovely tutor.”
Tavistock
Natalia Mokrileva passed both GCSE English and Maths, achieving a six for English and a seven for Maths. She said: “I had an amazing experience with Learn Devon especially with my tutor Sara. She made studying feel individual even though I was part of a group. I would recommend everybody who wants to go with Learn Devon to do so.”
Councillor Cheryl Cottle-Hunkin, Cabinet Member for Rural Affairs, said:
“Well done to all of the Learn Devon learners who have gained their GCSEs today. It takes a lot of hard work and commitment, so it’s a proud moment and great achievement, no matter what stage in your life. It’s never too late to study and Learn Devon has a wide range of courses available. Whether you’re looking to gain a qualification or develop new skills, it’s worth exploring what they have to offer.”
Learn Devon has over 100 courses listed on its website covering a range of subject areas including Digital Skills & IT, English, Maths, English for speakers of other languages (ESOL), and Skills & Development.
