Applications are now open for the Windrush Day Grant Scheme which is about bringing communities together across different ages and ethnic backgrounds to commemorate, celebrate and educate their local area about the contribution of the Windrush Generation and their descendants across the UK.
You can now apply for funding for activities taking place in 2026. National Windrush Day is on 22 June and projects must include a lead event or activity on this date. All further events and activities must take place before 31 July 2026.
Applicants should choose one of the following overarching aims of the scheme as a focus for their proposal:
- to raise awareness of the Windrush story
- to foster pride in the historic and ongoing contributions made by the Windrush generation and their descendants to UK society
- to encourage and inspire the descendants of the Windrush generation to become young leaders and contribute to the shared values of UK society
All projects should be community led and have a positive social impact.
You can apply for between £5,000 and £25,000.
Local authorities, charities, CICs, CIOs, Community Benefit Societies, social enterprises and community groups with a charitable purpose can apply.
