Weavers’ Company Benevolent Fund

The Weavers’ Company Benevolent Fund makes charitable grants to support people in trouble, particularly young offenders and ex-offenders, as well as other disadvantaged young people.

Funding is available for work that falls within one of the following three themes:

  1. Supporting offenders into work – for projects supporting offenders and ex-offenders to build skills and capability to get into sustainable work
  2. Helping specific groups within the criminal justice system – to support charities that are working with groups that tend to be less popular with funders
  3. Supporting young people – for projects that work with young people (aged up to 25) from disadvantaged and socio-economically challenged groups

The preference is to provide funding to help get new projects started, particularly if they are innovative and can serve as a model elsewhere.

There are two levels of funding: small grants (up to £5,000) and main grants (mostly up to £10,000 with some grants of £15,000).

UK registered charities and charitable incorporated organisations (CIOs) can apply.

Focus of fund/fund aims:

Grants to support organisations that can demonstrate impact with ex-offenders, young offenders or young people at risk of offending.

Application deadline:

Applications are considered three times a year
