WCIT Charity

The WCIT Charity is responsible for the charitable activities of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists. It provides funding for projects that make use of information technology and that relate to one or more of WCIT’s priority areas – education, inclusion, tech for charities and public understanding of IT.

Projects need to demonstrate an innovative use of IT, be scalable for wider replication and be sustainable over time.

The charity is looking for projects involving the development and delivery of innovative new services, solutions, training, apps, analytics, AI, robotics or accessibility features/hardware. It is less likely to provide funding for replacing hardware (e.g. new laptops/desktops), off-the-shelf software, websites, network and telephony costs or migration to cloud services.

You can apply for a grant if your organisation is a registered charity or an organisation with a formal not-for-profit constitution such as a Community Interest Company. The WCIT does not fund schools, other than its existing partner schools.

Most grants are for amounts up to £15,000.

You can also apply to the WCIT for independent, strategic level pro bono help for an IT project.
