Fund title: Tree Council: Branching Out Fund

Focus of fund/fund aims:

Small grants for community tree-planting projects during the Winter 2020/21

Application deadline:

Applications will be considered as they are received, and all projects must be completed and payments claimed by 31 March 2021

Fund description:

Funds are available to help schools and community groups proposing to undertake well-planned tree and hedge planting projects this winter (November 2020 – March 2021), preferably during National Tree Week which is 28 November to 6 December 2020.

The Tree Council will provide grants of between £300 and £1,500 (excluding VAT) for tree planting projects on public /trust owned/ leased land. The grants can cover 100% of the costs of purchasing trees, hedges and fruit trees as well as the reasonable costs of tree supports and guards, mulch, fertiliser and peat-free soil improvers.

Schools, community groups, member Tree Warden Networks, parish and town councils can apply.

The Tree Council notes that, while it is unclear what social-distancing rules will be in place when the tree planting season begins again, they are still keen to encourage groups to develop tree planting projects, managed by small groups in their communities. Further information is available on their website (see link below).
