Talented craftspeople and makers who wish to develop advanced skills in contemporary or traditional crafts can apply to the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust for a scholarship of up to £18,000. You must display a high level of skill in your chosen field and have a strong connection to the appropriate materials, technical skills and processes. The aim is to contribute to excellence in the British craft sector.
The scholarships are intended to support talented craftspeople to undertake:
- traditional college courses
- further education (e.g. an MA or practice-led PhD)
- a series of short courses
- one-to-one training with a master craftsperson
- a bespoke programme of training
You can also use some of the funding towards associated costs such as travel and accommodation.
QEST holds two application rounds a year:
- Applications for the Spring round open in January and close in February
- Applications for the Autumn round open in July and close in August
