The National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF) has launched the first new fund as part of its 2023 -2030 strategy. The UK Fund is about bringing people together from different backgrounds, generations and locations. Projects must either work across the UK, or be able to inform, influence or scale across the UK.
The aim is to fund ambitious projects that look to create longer-term, transformational change by bringing people together and making a better-connected society. There is therefore a focus on the following:
- strengthening communities
- creating connections between online and offline worlds
- helping to make sure that people from all backgrounds can shape the future of their communities
[July 2024 update: the UK Fund will now also support projects that help children and young people use their voice to influence change.]
Every project must demonstrate that it will:
- benefit communities across the UK
- strengthen its impact
- focus on equity – projects should involve and benefit places, people and communities who experience poverty, disadvantage and discrimination.
Grants are in the range £500,000 to £5m for projects lasting from 2 to 5 years.
Applications can be made by charities, voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations, local authorities and partnerships.
Focus of fund/fund aims:
Large grants for transformational projects that benefit communities across the UK
