NIHR: social care research funding

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) provides funding to develop and deliver clinical and applied health, social care and public health research. There is a range of funding programmes and regular calls for proposals for specific areas of research.

The programmes include:

Current and forthcoming funding opportunities within these programmes include:

Decarbonising the health and social care system: to build research capacity and generate high-quality research evidence into developing and evaluating innovations focused on decarbonising the health and social care system. The aim is to help the health and social care system become more sustainable and reach net zero status. Co-production of research proposals with charities, local authorities, third sector organisations and other relevant stakeholders is strongly encouraged.

There is an information webinar on 16 August 2024 in preparation for this call which opens in November 2024.
