The Historic Houses Foundation (HHF) gives grants for the restoration and conservation of rural historic buildings and structures as well as their gardens, grounds and outbuildings. The HHF also supports the conservation of works of art in historic house collections open to the public.
Charities, institutions, local authorities and individuals who own historic houses can apply for funding. There must a compelling need for the work and it needs to be a major restoration or conservation project on a historic building with public access. Alterations, improvements, routine repairs and general running costs cannot be funded.
Grants range from £1,000 to £250,000 but the majority of grants are for less than £50,000.
