Community groups and organisations in Exeter can apply for funding from the City Council to bring people together and help them make a difference in their community.
The Exeter Grants Programme is for projects that have a focus on one or more of the following priority themes:
- Address inequalities
- Improve health and wellbeing
- Get people active
- Support communities working together to address local needs
- Encourage volunteering
- Improve where we live
- Support community-based arts and cultural activities
- Promote digital inclusion
There are two separate funds:
Exeter City Grant Fund
Grants up to £2,500 for groups in Exeter’s priority neighbourhoods. These are:
- Exwick
- Redhills
- St Thomas
- St David’s
- City Centre
- Newtown
- Mincinglake
- Beacon Heath
- Whipton
- Wonford
- Countess Wear
The funding can be used to help run events, festivals and projects that aim to encourage community participation. This fund can also be used for a one-off purchase or repair of equipment.
Exeter Ward Grants
Community groups throughout Exeter can apply for up to £350 to support a community project, such as a community festival, theatre production or a craft group. You will need to demonstrate that there is community support for your project

Application deadline:
Exeter City Grants: Round 1 -16 August 2024; Round 2 - 25 October 2024; Round 3 - 10 January 2025. Applications for Exeter Ward Grants may be submitted at any time.
