Depot Charging Scheme

The government has launched a £170million multi-year funding programme (2026 to 2030) to help fund the installation of charging infrastructure at fleet depots. The Depot Charging Scheme aims to support the uptake of zero emission vehicles in the road freight and coach industries.

Applications are open to UK commercial fleet operators that own or lease one or more UK depots and have (or will have) at least one battery-electric van, HGV or coach.

For projects implemented in 2026/27, you can apply for funding to cover 70% of chargepoint and civil costs incurred. The scheme is limited to one application per organisation but this can cover multiple sites. The maximum grant per organisation is £1million.

The charging infrastructure must be installed by 31 March 2027.

Focus of fund/fund aims:

Application deadline:

30 June 2026 (There will be second application window this year opening on 28 October 2026 and closing on 29 January 2027, for projects starting after April 2027)
