The Charles Hayward Foundation provides grants for registered charities. Funding is currently available in three funding categories:
social and criminal justice – for projects that help to prevent people entering the criminal justice system, and that support those in contact with the system to rebuild their lives. Grants of £15,000 – £25,000 per year over one to three years.
overseas – for projects that improve the livelihoods of disadvantaged communities in Commonwealth countries of Africa. One-year grants of up to £15,000.
older people – for small, local projects that improve the physical and emotional health of older people. One-year grants of up to £7,000.

Application deadline:
Applications through the older people theme can be submitted at any time. For social and criminal justice and overseas projects there is a two-stage application process - the next deadlines are: 30 January 2026; 22 May 2026; 18 September 2026.
