Charities working to improve the lives of people in need can apply to the B&Q Foundation for a grant of up to £10,000 to make homes safe, welcoming and comfortable. The grants are for essential home improvements and home-starter kits to help individuals and families facing homelessness, domestic abuse, disabilities, illness, or financial hardship.
The funding is for projects that directly improve home environments and is available to registered charities that are providing accommodation or supporting people moving into their own homes.
Applications can be made to one of the following programmes (not both):
Home Improvement Fund – grants up to £10,000 for charities to support people with essential home improvements to accommodation or gardens connected to accommodation
Home-Starter Kits Fund – grants up to £10,000 for charities to provide home-starter packs to help people set up their new home. Kits can include appliances, furniture, paint, DIY materials etc. to a value of £500 per kit.
Note that the focus of the B&Q Foundation is now on projects that directly improve home environments; grants are no longer available for projects to improve community centres, support hubs, or well-being spaces.
