The Benefact Trust provides grants to support the repair, restoration, protection, improvement and reach of places of Christian worship. This includes activities that benefit the wider community and the environment. The following grant schemes are open to applications:
Building improvement grants – including making essential repairs, enhancing accessibility, restoring historic features, or installing energy-efficient systems
Community impact grants – for projects that address social challenges, grow congregations, and provide outreach in the community
Methodist grants – including building community hubs, improving accessibility, enhancing spaces for worship and outreach
Roof alarm grants – installing alarm systems to help protect churches from metal theft. Grants are for up to 50% of the cost of the alarm, up to a maximum of £2,500.
Heritage skills for Christian buildings – funding for individuals to train for an accredited qualification in heritage skills including stonemasonry, thatching, lime plastering, carpentry, lead work and glazing, heritage plumbing and bricklaying
The Benefact Trust does not specify the level of grant you can apply for: you are asked to present your total project costs together with information about other funding you have and, if your project is funded, the amount of the award will be calculated by the trust.
