BBC Children in Need

BBC Children in Need has announced that it will be pausing its grant-making this year while it introduces a new system. You can submit a new expression of interest up until 15 April 2025 but after that no further new applications will be accepted until the new portal launches in September.

The current Children in Need funding streams remain open until April:

Project Costs – for delivery of a specific piece of work

Core Costs – for the costs of day-to-day activities, for example: management and administration; general office expenses; accountancy; communications; and monitoring

Pudsey Next Steps – for new applicants working in under-served geographic and/or thematic areas

Charities and not-for-profit organisations working with children and young people aged 18 or under can apply.

These funding streams provide revenue funding only:

  • Grants up to £15,000: small grants for not-for-profit organisations. These will receive a decision more quickly.
  • Grants from £15,001 to £120,000: only registered organisations (eg. registered charities) can apply for larger grants.

In addition:

Emergency Essentials – registered referrers can apply for funding towards items that meet children’s most basic needs eg. a bed, clothing etc. This programme is delivered separately by Family Fund Business Services.

Focus of fund/fund aims:

Grants to support the work of not-for-profit organisations that are working with children and young people, particularly those in challenging circumstances

Application deadline:

New expressions of interest by 15 April 2025
