The Baily Thomas Charitable Fund provides grants for general and research work with people with learning disabilities. The charity stipulates that its support is for people with global intellectual impairment (onset before the age of 18) who need support/help to fulfil ordinary daily activities.
Grants can be provided towards building/renovation/refurbishment works for residential, nursing and respite care, and schools; Snoezelen rooms; employment schemes; play schemes and play therapy; social activities; support for families; and support for independent living.
There are two grant schemes:
- Small Grant Programme – grants up to £9,000
- General Grant Programme – grants of £9,000 and above
Funding can be awarded for capital and revenue costs as well as for specific projects and for general running/core costs.
Applications are accepted from registered charities, schools and PTAs, Community Benefit Societies and other exempt charities.
The Baily Thomas Charitable Fund also provides research grants for established researchers in university departments.
