Asda Foundation: Local Community Spaces Fund

Registered charities and CICs can apply to the Asda Foundation for funding to repair, maintain, expand or improve community spaces so that they can continue delivering vital activities and services. The Local Community Spaces Fund provides grants to support safe and welcoming community spaces that bring people together, connect communities and address loneliness and isolation.

The fund will support:

  • community centres or spaces that host a range of different groups
  • youth centres in areas of high deprivation
  • centres that support the most vulnerable eg. homeless shelters, community cafes, food banks, dementia and elderly support

Grants of between £10,000 and £20,000 are available from the fund which has a budget of over £1m for 2026.

The funding can be used for costs such as kitchen and bathroom refurbishments, repairs to roofs and floors, disabled access, heating, extensions, creating new spaces, replacing windows and doors, security upgrades. Equipment and furniture can also be funded provided it only makes up a small portion of a wider application to repair, renovate or develop a community space. The project site must be open and accessible all year round.

These grants are for registered charities and CICs with a total annual income of between £40,000 and £400,000.
